Aspley Hornets Football Club

Aspley Hornets is seeking an experienced and passionate Football Manager to lead our football department across senior men's, women's, junior, youth and masters programs.


Reporting to the Board of Directors, this leadership role is responsible for driving football strategy, strengthening player pathways, managing football operations, supporting coaches and staff, and fostering a strong, accountable club culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement the club's football strategy and philosophy.
  • Oversee football operations across all programs.
  • Manage and support coaches, football staff and volunteers.
  • Drive player recruitment, retention and pathway development.
  • Ensure AFL Queensland compliance, reporting and football administration requirements are met.
  • Build a positive, inclusive and high-performance football culture.
  • Manage football budgets, resources and planning.
  • Develop strong relationships with AFL Queensland, schools, community clubs, sponsors and stakeholders.

About You

You will have:

  • Senior leadership experience in football, community sport or a comparable environment.
  • Strong strategic, operational and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience in budgeting, planning and resource management.
  • Sound understanding of football operations, player development and pathways.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead through influence and collaboration.

Desirable

  • QAFL, QAFLW or AFL Queensland experience.
  • Coaching accreditation or coaching leadership experience.
  • Sports administration, management or education qualifications.
  • Experience supporting women's and girls' football programs.
