Hospitality Worker (Front of House)

Hours: 38–40 hours per week
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience

About the Role

The Taste of Italy is seeking a friendly, reliable and motivated Hospitality Worker to join our front-of-house team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This role involves delivering excellent customer service, assisting with daily restaurant operations, serving food and beverages, preparing coffee and other drinks, handling payments, and maintaining a clean and welcoming service environment. The successful candidate will also support service at our restaurant and, where required, our market stall operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet, seat and serve customers in a professional and friendly manner
• Present menus and take food and beverage orders accurately
• Recommend food and beverage options to complement customers’ meals
• Serve beverages, including coffee, wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks
• Select and grind coffee, operate espresso machines and prepare a range of espresso-based beverages
• Clear tables and return dishes, glasses and cutlery to the kitchen
• Handle cash and EFTPOS payments, issue receipts and balance sales
• Promote menu items, specials and other products to customers
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar, coffee station, dining area and service areas
• Assist with the setup, operation and pack-down of restaurant service and market stalls where required
• Ensure compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements
• Comply with workplace health and safety, food handling and hygiene standards
• Work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should have:

• Previous experience in hospitality, customer service or retail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A friendly, professional and customer-focused attitude
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy hospitality environment
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• Good cash handling and payment processing skills
• Barista or beverage service experience preferred
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certification

Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
