About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 10,000 entrepreneurial, action-oriented professionals across more than 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients’ most complex challenges and helping them reach their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who make a tangible impact on clients and shape the industry. Guided by A&M’s core values, Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity, our collaborative environment and engaging work are why our people love working here.

The Team

Our Dispute & Investigations practice provides independent, analytical advice in the context of disputes, litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters. Within this practice, the role sits primarily within the valuation and financial modelling stream, supporting dispute-related valuation analysis and expert work.

The team specialises in valuations prepared for contentious contexts, including litigation, arbitration, shareholder disputes, and regulatory proceedings. Work is highly analytical and requires careful application of valuation methodologies, financial modelling and clear documentation suitable for experts and court processes. Unlike valuations performed for corporate finance or transaction purposes, dispute‑related valuations require a high degree of analytical rigour, strong foundations in corporate finance theory, independence, and clear documentation suitable for expert reports. Analysts will apply valuation methodologies in a forensic context, where assumptions must be defensible and prepared for challenge in arbitration or litigation settings.

How You Will Contribute

As an Analyst, you will primarily support valuation-focused engagement within the Disputes & Investigations team. Your responsibilities include:

  • Building, reviewing and maintaining financial models and valuation analysis for dispute matters

  • Assisting with the preparation of valuation schedules, expert reports, and supporting materials

  • Applying valuation methodologies in a dispute context, including scenario and sensitivity analysis

  • Conducting financial, accounting and industry research to support valuation assumptions

  • Working closely with senior team members on valuation-driven dispute engagements

The role is well suited to candidate with a strong interest in valuation and financial modelling, who is keen to apply these skills in a dispute's environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related quantitative field with a strong academic background.

  • Evident interest in valuation assignments within dispute or litigation scenarios.

  • Prior internship or relevant practical experience is preferred, particularly in financial modelling, valuation, or analytical roles.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrating a methodical approach to complex issues.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with VBA programming is highly desirable.

  • Superior attention to detail with the ability to work effectively with complex financial information/financial models.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects and deliver results within tight deadlines.

  • CFA or CA candidacy is preferred.
