The Purpose:
This 12-month Max-Term Risk SME role will see you provide expert leadership in risk management to safeguard AP+’s integrity and success. Day to day you will be responsible for implementing robust PFMI risk frameworks, assuring quality, and delivering specialist advice across the business. The Risk SME drives effective methods, measurement, and reporting, while fostering strong stakeholder relationships. - Conduct risk reviews and assessments to ensure quality objectives are met, addressing non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice on specialist risk areas, integrating insights from multiple sources to support strategic objectives.
- Drive the adoption and optimisation of risk management methods, tools, and processes in line with organisational standards.
- Develop and maintain measurement and reporting capabilities to monitor risk performance and inform decision-making.
- Analyse data and reporting outputs to identify process improvements and enhance data quality.
- Manage and strengthen stakeholder relationships through structured engagement, issue resolution, and continuous feedback.
- Promote knowledge sharing and capability development in risk management across the organisation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs, shape solutions, and guide the effective application of tools and frameworks.
The capabilities needed to be successful for this role are:
PFMI Standards Experience: Deep experience working with, delivering and implementing PFMI standard framework.
Experience & Expertise: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in risk management, compliance, or advisory roles within financial services, technology, or payments environments.
Industry & Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of payments technology, IT systems, and the broader financial industry landscape, including emerging risks and regulatory trends.
Strategic Risk Leadership: Proven ability to design, implement, and oversee complex risk management frameworks and assurance activities across functions, projects, and programs.
Regulatory & Compliance Insight: Deep knowledge of risk management standards, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial services and payments.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in risk and compliance software tools, with the ability to interpret and present complex data through analytical and reporting platforms.
Process & Framework Development: Demonstrated success in embedding consistent, reliable risk processes and reporting mechanisms aligned with organisational strategy.
Stakeholder Influence: Strong capability to engage and collaborate with executives, specialists, and domain experts to advise on strategic risk posture and promote effective decision-making.
Advisory & Communication Skills: Excellent judgement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risk insights into clear, actionable advice for diverse stakeholders.
