Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Division of Medicine.
Successful applicants will work with the Network Director Physician Training and the Director of Physician Education and Director of Medical Services in managing, supporting and coordinating registrars within the Division of Medicine. They will be responsible for the planning and running of the RACP clinical exam held at Nepean and delivering the education program for the Nepean Physician Training Network at Nepean hospital. The successful applicant will be expected to provide a major contribution to rostering, patient flow, and clinical redesign and an agreed level of contribution to clinical services in a relevant subspecialty area at the nominated facility.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship by the beginning of the 2024 Clinical Year will be considered. If successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally obtained.
The position will be for a period of 12 months.

  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position
  • Sound clinical knowledge in relevant subspecialty demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
  • Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award
Employees and Contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
