Job Description
Are you ready to step into a role where your technical expertise genuinely shapes the future of a fast-growing geotechnical business?
IdealCorp is seeking a driven, highly capable Geotechnical Engineer to become a key pillar of our technical leadership team. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives on responsibility, values high-quality engineering outcomes, and wants to influence how geotechnical services are delivered at scale.
At IdealCorp, we don’t just complete reports. We build confidence in construction.
Why Join us:
As part of our expanding geotechnical team, you’ll deliver accurate, practical, and commercially sound engineering solutions across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and management, progressively stepping into report sign-off authority, technical leadership, and project ownership, while playing a vital role in strengthening our in-house capabilities.
This role offers clear career progression, exposure to diverse ground conditions, and the ability to influence how we innovate, grow, and deliver better outcomes for our clients.
What You’ll Do:
Site Classification Leadership:
- Review, certify, and sign off Lot/Site Classification reports in accordance with NSW and QLD standards (AS1726, AS 2870, AS 2159, relevant Australian Standards).
- Maintain a strong focus on technical accuracy, risk management, and constructability.
Geotechnical Reporting:
Deliver and manage a wide range of geotechnical services, including:
- Lead bulk earthworks investigations and designs from brief to final report
- Run Plaxis 2D/3D analyses for embankments, slopes, retaining structures, and more
- Prepare geotechnical reports, slope stability assessments, and earthworks specifications
- Interpret geotechnical reports, bore logs, and lab data to inform design decisions
- Apply sound engineering judgement to real construction conditions
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Team Development:
- Provide hands-on technical support to Site Investigators and junior engineers.
- Mentor team members in fieldwork, soil and rock logging, and report preparation.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Actively contribute feedback to improve systems, processes, and service delivery.
Site & Project Work
- Conduct and oversee field investigations, inspections, and earthworks testing
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients across diverse projects
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical presentations
- Provide technical guidance during construction and earthworks activities
Career & Development
- Annual training budget and dedicated accreditation support
- A clear pathway toward Principal or Technical Lead roles as the business grows
- Real technical impact in a company that values initiative over hierarchy
Innovation & Expansion:
- Identify opportunities to introduce new geotechnical and testing services.
- Support accreditation pathways and capability expansion aligned with business growth.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in investigation methods, reporting templates, and QA systems.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in geotechnical engineering.
Proven capability in:
- 4–8 years’ geotechnical engineering experience
- Hands-on bulk earthworks design/reporting background
- Solid Plaxis 2D/3D modelling skills
- Soild Geotester reporting experience
- NER and RPEQ registered
- Geotechnical Report writing including recommendations and problem solving
- Willing to cross train with Screw Pier foundation design
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Someone who takes ownership and doesn’t wait to be told twice
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- NER registration and RPEQ
- CPEng accreditation highly regarded.
Technical Skills:
- Exceptional technical report writing and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a practical engineering mindset.
- Experience managing multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards.
- Confidence working autonomously and making sound engineering judgments.
- Experience with software such as PLAXIS, AutoCAD, CIRCLY etc
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain CPD points and accreditations.
- A collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Opportunities to lead and drive meaningful change in the geotechnical sector.
