The Role

Following our continued growth and success winning and positioning ourselves to deliver current and future major infrastructure projects across Australia, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented GIS Analyst join our Sydney team and assist on major projects in New South Wales and across ANZ.

You will play a key and growing role in the delivery of SMEC’s professional services across all parts of the business. Tasks include assisting in map and graphics production, spatial data management, advanced data analysis, development of data collection apps and promotion of GIS within the business.


About you:

  • 3+ years professional experience in a similar GIS role, preferably within the engineering, environmental or infrastructure consulting industry.
  • Strong proficiency in desktop GIS, particularly ArcGIS Pro, including spatial analysis and spatial data management.
  • Strong skills in cartographic design and the communication of spatial information through high-quality mapping products.
  • Experience with web GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcGIS Online, including the development and management of web maps, Dashboards, and Experience Builder applications.
  • Experience configuring and supporting field data collection solutions such as FieldMaps, Survey123, Quick Capture, and Fulcrum.
  • Exposure to data automation and conversion using Python and FME workflows.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with internal and external stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Degree qualified in GIS, Geomatics Engineering, Geography, or similar discipline.
