The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Hourly Rate: $34.75 per hour (plus 25% casual loading)

Casual
Greater Shepparton City Council's Parks, Sport & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Casual Parks Maintenance Employees to assist with the maintenance and presentation of parks, gardens, sporting facilities, and public spaces across the municipality.
This hands-on role involves working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and undertaking a range of grounds maintenance activities. Duties include operating and maintaining equipment such as mowers, whipper snippers, edgers, blowers, and other horticultural tools and machinery, as well as cleaning and maintaining park infrastructure and public amenities.
Previous experience operating parks maintenance equipment is desirable; however, on-the-job training will be provided to suitable candidates.
The successful applicants will have a keen interest in delivering high-quality lawn, garden, and open space maintenance and ideally possess experience in horticulture, agriculture, parks maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
As these are casual positions, hours of work are not guaranteed, and flexibility is essential. During peak growth periods (September to April), casual employees may be offered up to 76 hours per fortnight.
Essential Requirement:
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
Highly Desirable Requirement:
- Medium Rigid (MR) Truck Licence
- Traffic Management Certification
- Construction Induction (White Card)
Applicants with a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are encouraged to apply.
For further information about this position, please contact Leigh Simpson, Coordinator - Parks, on 0400 673 144.
Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period. During the qualifying period employees will be provided with appropriate on-going induction, support, assistance, resources and training to enable them to meet the required performance standards for the position.
First Nations people are encouraged to apply. Council is committed to Child Safety and Wellbeing and adheres to Child Safe Standards and obligations under the Reportable Conduct Scheme of the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.
Please note that applications which do not specifically address the Key Selection Criteria detailed in the position description will not be considered.
All applications must be submitted to the Council by the closing date shown on the advertisement.
