About the Pathology Department
The Pathology Department, situated at Mildura Base Public Hospital, is committed to provide the highest level of service to the Hospital and the wider community of Sunraysia. Austin Health Pathology Mildura is a core laboratory offering services of Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Microbiology services. The Mildura Laboratory operates 24/7 supporting Mildura Base Public Hospital, as well as providing services to surrounding hospitals, GPs, and specialists from across the region.
About the role
As one of our Scientists you will join a friendly, collaborative and supportive team who genuinely enjoy their work and the contribution they make.
A regular day will see you:
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment as per laboratory procedures
Maintain training and competency levels in accordance with documented laboratory methods, procedures and policies
Maintain relevant scientific and technological knowledge and skills
Participate in shift and on-call roster
Participate in external Quality Assurance Programs
Participate in the training and education of scientific and technical staff
About you
As a Scientist, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:
A commitment to Austin Health values.
Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine degree, or alternative/equivalent science degree recognised by AIMS, AACB, AAM or ASC
Laboratory experience.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment and as part of a team
Ability to cope with continuous change
Flexibility to work varying shifts
