Overview:
The primary objective of SA BME is to assure the safety, effectiveness, availability and compliance of biomedical technology used directly for patient diagnosis, treatment or monitoring for, or in connection with, the public hospital and healthcare facilities of SA Health.
Reporting to the Associate Director SA BME & AM, the Operations Manager is a member of the SA BME Leadership group responsible for governance, overall strategic leadership and operational management and planning in the delivery of biomedical engineering programs across SA Health.
The Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership on operational planning, policy development, performance monitoring and managing the development and implementation of strategic maintenance programs and practices that occur across multiple sites of SA BME.
The Operations Manager coordinates and oversees related activities of all operational SA BME staff and manages SA BME involvement in biomedical technology safety issues including risk assessments, risk mitigation planning, hazard alerts, recalls and incident investigations.

Appointment to classification will be based upon skills and experience.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

A ‘National Police Certificate’ NPC (also known as a ‘Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check’ NCCHC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

This position is multi-classified as either a Professional Officer (PO) or an Administrative Services Stream (ASO). The PO classification reflects the level of professional knowledge provided in addition to the primary job requirements, whereas, it is acknowledged that an ASO classified incumbent could access this knowledge from other SABME staff.
Intrastate, interstate and overseas travel will be required.
Some out of hours work will be required.
A university degree in engineering or equivalent with eligibility for graduate membership into one of the appropriate professional bodies is essential is required for PO4.
