Our Out of Home Care services offer a variety of child protection, youth justice, outreach, family intervention and family support services. About the Role:
The overall purpose of the Youth Worker, Residential Care is to provide care and/or support to children and young people, in out of home care and/or living within at risk families. The care and support provided by Youth Workers will enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities to support development of positive self-regard, to support community inclusion, to support positive relations with family of origin and to contribute to placement stability.

This role involves being the primary caregiver during shift, ensuring the safety of young people in care, and imparting essential life skills to establish a consistent routine. Collaborating with the Coordinator and Service Manager, you'll help develop trauma-informed interventions for these young individuals with complex issues.

What a day in the life of a Residential Youth Worker looks like:

  • Planning and engaging in meaningful activities with the young person.
  • Being a vital part of a cohesive team, dedicated to helping young people achieve their personal goals.
  • Promoting good hygiene and nutrition.
  • Maintaining daily case notes, handling administrative tasks, and preparing incident reports.

Permanent Part-Time Rates starting at $ 40.48 per hour (excluding allowances).

Current positions available:

Felsman Floater line (40hrs/fortnight) (Regents Park and Logan Reserve)

Week 1 : Wed (5pm to 10:30pm + S/O Thu (6:30am to 9 am)

Week 2 : Mon (5pm to 10:30pm + S/O 6:30am to 9 am), Tue (5pm to 10:30pm + S/O 6:30am to 9 am), Fri (5pm to 10:30pm + S/O 6:30am to 9 am)

Line G Greenbank (38hrs per fortnight)

Week 1 : Thu to Fri (2:30pm to 9:30am)

Week 2 : Thur to Fri (2:30pm to 9:30am), Sat to Sun (9:30am to 9:30am)

Please note shift times may vary according operational and on school holidays.

Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements

  • A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children's Check QLD)
  • Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
  • Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence
  • The ability to provide two recent referees of supervisors
  • Availability to work - day, evening and weekend shifts, including sleepovers or awake shifts is essential for current needs. Availability to work 5 out of 7 days a week inclusive of every second weekend.
