Full job description

Empowering People In Communities (EPIC) is a not for profit organisation that offers disability support and community services in the Pilbara and Goldfields.

Our aim is to empower clients through a range of services that support many people to live a more connected life through community.

Location:

Hedland

Opportunity:

Full time opportunity, 38 hours per week. MUST be available for sleepover shifts.

This role will provide support services including the provision of personal care, domestic and lifestyle support, community participation and inclusion setting as guided by the participant's individual NDIS support plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality support that enhances choice and control, maximizes abilities, encourages participation and is goal orientated.
  • Experience with providing supports in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Take direction from the person that is being supported, the family, and EPIC’s Client Coordinator whilst providing regular feedback on progress.
  • Maintain respect, a positive attitude and a strong and professional relationship with the person, their family and EPIC’s Client Coordinator.
  • Complete timely and accurate NDIS required case notes, incident reports, and other records as required using EPIC applications and systems.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by your line manager.

Essential

  • A current First Aid Certificate, or the ability to obtain one within three months of employment.
  • A valid NDIS Worker Screening check clearance or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • A valid WA “C” class driver’s license or equivalent overseas licence accompanied by a valid temporary visa.
  • A Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of client information.
  • Demonstrated value of respect for people with a disability.
  • High level of verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of working as a positive team member with a high level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated values commensurate with those of EPIC. These include reliability, trust, consistency, being proactive and supporting inclusion for people with a disability.
  • Availability to work during business hours, after business hours and on weekends.
  • Ability to use required IT rostering applications.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting people with a disability in a professional or informal capacity and/or demonstrated values commensurate with those of EPIC.
  • Complex care experience including puree feeding, fluids and PEG feeding.
  • Manual Handling experience/qualification.
  • Knowledge of NDIS Quality and compliance requirements and guidelines;
  • Cert IV In Community or/and disability services
