The Team & Role

The Chef is responsible for the preparation, cooking, presentation, and service of nutritious, high-quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors within a hospital room service food delivery model. Working as part of the Food Services team, the Chef ensures meals are prepared in accordance with approved menus, therapeutic diet requirements, food safety standards, and patient service expectations. The role supports a patient-centred dining experience by preparing meals to order within designated service timeframes, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation, collaborating with Food Service Supervisors, and other healthcare staff. The Chef is responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, infection prevention and control requirements, workplace health and safety standards, and Peninsula Health policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience Required

Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery
Food Safety Handler Certificate HLTFSE001 (post 2015)
Flexible and creative when dealing with problems
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Must be available on weekends
