About Evolution Hospitality Institute

Evolution Hospitality Institute is one of Sydney's leading hospitality colleges, located at Haymarket in the heart of the city. We train students from across the globe in commercial cookery, patisserie, kitchen management and hospitality management. Our international programs are growing, and we now deliver training in partnership with a leading vocational institute in China.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to take your training career offshore. You will deliver Evolution's Western cuisine and hospitality programs on site in China, working with motivated Chinese vocational students in modern commercial kitchen facilities.

You will deliver across:

  • Commercial Cookery (practical & theory)
  • Kitchen Management (practical & theory)
  • Hospitality (Hotel & Restaurant Service: practical & theory)
  • Hospitality Management (theory)

Classes run in structured blocks with bilingual classroom support. You do not need to speak Mandarin. You do need the cultural awareness and patience to teach students for whom English is a second language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and facilitate units in line with allocated schedules and program requirements
  • Adapt your delivery for English as a second language learners, working alongside bilingual support staff
  • Work with the Academic Team in Sydney to submit accurate, compliant and timely assessment outcomes and reports
  • Maintain the integrity and quality of every session you deliver
  • Contribute to learning material and assessment development where required
  • Represent Evolution professionally with our partner institute, its staff and its students

Selection Criteria

You are a seasoned hospitality professional who transforms industry experience into training students remember. You have worked across a range of enterprises and you draw on real examples to bring content to life. You create an inclusive learning environment for students from a different cultural and language background to your own.

You will also have:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex content for second language learners
  • Experience delivering training through electronic formats or a willingness to learn
  • The flexibility and resilience to live and work overseas for the contract period

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of training and assessment experience with a Registered Training Organisation
  • Current industry experience in commercial cookery or hospitality operations
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, or TAE40116 with the required assessor units)
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Diploma of Hospitality Management or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management
  • A valid passport and the ability to obtain a Chinese work permit (we support this process)
  • Desirable - Previous experience training international or offshore cohorts
