The Royal Women’s Hospital is one of Australia’s oldest and most distinguished tertiary hospitals dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women and newborns, offering specialised services within maternity, neonatal and women’s health. Our goal is to be the best place to work, learn and contribute, and to provide exceptional experiences for our patients and consumers.
About People and Patient Experience
The Women’s goal is to ensure ‘Our patients and consumers are at the heart of everything we do’, and that ‘we will provide an exceptional patient and consumer experience that delivers improved health outcomes for women and newborns’.
About the role
In this important role, you will be the warm, friendly and welcoming face for women, their families and other visitors at the Information Desk and in the Welcome Centre.
As a Patient and Visitor Support Officer, you will exemplify patient-centred service, consistently meeting experience benchmarks and exceeding expectations, contributing to a highly positive experience at the Women’s.
You will manage face-to-face and email enquiries across a wide range of issues, support people in navigating our services, ensure access to accurate information, manage administrative processes, coordinate bookings, and liaise with multiple teams across the hospital.
- Provide a positive first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, staff and other consumers
- Support patients, consumers, families and visitors with enquiries, wayfinding, health information and navigating services
- Capture and record service activity, including types of support provided, information usage and feedback
- Model the Women’s high standard of patient-centred care, ensuring all enquiries are handled with care and responsiveness
- Contribute to the Welcome Centre as a calm, welcoming and non-clinical environment for patients and visitors
About You
We are looking for a genuine and caring person to join our exceptional team. You bring warmth, empathy and a strong commitment to person‑centred and culturally safe care. You are an excellent communicator and listener, with a positive and engaging approach, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience in a face-to-face patient, client or customer service environment, with a strong commitment to person-centred and culturally safe practice
- Confidence working across multiple service channels (e.g. face-to-face, phone, email, website)
- The ability to prioritise competing tasks and work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
- Well-developed administrative skills and attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound human-centered decisions
Our benefits
At the Women’s you will enjoy a culture that is collaborative, supportive and passionate about learning. We have a strong sense of purpose, and engage in meaningful work every day. We offer our people a range of rewarding benefits, including:
- $11,660 in salary packaging benefits, for living expenses, meals and holiday accommodation
- A suite of wellness initiatives designed to support you, including discounted financial, lifestyle and health options, and a comprehensive wellbeing program
- Public transport options at our doorstep and end of journey facilities for cyclists
- Mentoring, learning and career development opportunities
- Pro-rata annual leave accrual, 17.5% leave loading, purchased leave options
- Flexible 3 days per week ( Mon-Fri)

We encourage applications from anyone identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. We also welcome anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+, linguistically, culturally and/or gender diverse, people with disability, and people of any age to apply for our roles. We are committed to gender equity principles, and our people have an awareness of and sensitive approach to violence against women and family violence matters. We are proudly Breastfeeding Association accredited and, as a child safe organisation, have a strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
