Manufacturing Forklift Operator / Materials Handler - Afternoon Shift

BC People is recruiting on behalf of a leading Australian metal manufacturing company based in Thomastown.

We're looking for an experienced Manufacturing Forklift Operator / Materials Handler who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where accuracy is just as important as forklift skills.

This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring the correct materials are supplied to production and loaded into a large automated storage system. If you're organised, reliable and confident using warehouse systems, we'd love to hear from you.

Your responsibilities

• Operate a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently
• Load sheet metal and other raw materials into a large automated storage system
• Pick and stage materials for production
• Match the correct material type, grade and thickness to production requirements
• Ensure materials are delivered to the correct production area
• Accurately record stock movements using warehouse/computer systems
• Load and unload deliveries
• Maintain stock accuracy and good housekeeping standards
• Work safely while following all site procedures

To be successful you'll have

• Current LF Forklift Licence
• Strong experience operating a counterbalance forklift
• Previous experience in manufacturing, steel, aluminium or sheet metal environments
• Confidence using warehouse management or inventory systems
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately identify different material types and thicknesses
• A high level of responsibility and accountability
• Strong organisational skills
• Reliable transport and a great work ethic

Highly regarded

• Experience working with steel, aluminium or sheet metal products
• Experience loading automated storage systems or material towers (training provided if not)
• Previous experience supporting laser cutting or production operations
