Indian & Nepalese Restaurant
Position: Front of House Staff (Waitstaff/Cashier/Customer Service)Reports To: Restaurant Manager
Position Summary
The Front of House Staff is responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring guests have a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience, taking orders accurately, serving food and beverages, handling payments, and maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Present menus and explain Indian and Nepalese dishes when required.
- Answer customer questions regarding ingredients, spice levels, and dietary requirements.
- Ensure guests receive prompt and attentive service throughout their visit.
- Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.
Order Taking & Service
- Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system.
- Communicate orders clearly to kitchen staff.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and according to restaurant standards.
- Check customer satisfaction during meals and respond to requests efficiently.
- Clear and reset tables quickly to maintain smooth service flow.
Cash Handling
- Process cash, EFTPOS, and online payments accurately.
- Issue receipts and reconcile transactions at the end of shifts.
- Maintain honesty and accuracy when handling money.
Restaurant Presentation
- Keep dining areas clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
- Set up tables, cutlery, napkins, and service stations before service.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
Teamwork
- Work closely with kitchen and management teams to ensure efficient service.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous hospitality or restaurant experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and multitasking abilities.
- Basic knowledge of Indian and Nepalese cuisine is desirable.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (if serving alcohol).
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
