Full job description

Hello India Bunbury is a family-owned Indian restaurant with a diverse menu and a growing catering arm for parties and events. We are looking for an experienced Curry Chef to work side by side with the owners and kitchen team in a busy Indian kitchen, helping to strengthen our systems through consistent recipes, portion control, practical food cost awareness and strong teamwork.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare and cook a range of Indian curries and gravies to a consistent standard.

· Work across diverse Hello India Menu, supporting other sections as needed.

· Lead and support preparation on daily basis and for catering and party orders, including ordering, planning, prep, portions and quality for larger volumes.

· Ensure consistency in food quality, service timing, portion control and presentation for dine-in, takeaway and catering.

· Work with the owners on practical food cost awareness and menu costing within agreed targets.

· Work on kitchen systems and documentation (clear recipes and methods that others can follow).

· Take charge of ordering, stock control, wastage reduction and day-to-day kitchen cleanliness and organization.

· Always maintain high food safety and hygiene standards.

· Contribute ideas for new recipes and specials and help improve existing dishes while keeping them consistent and cost-effective.

Requirements:

· Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Indian Chef / Curry Chef in a busy restaurant.

· Strong knowledge of Indian curries, gravies and spices.

· Comfortable working beyond one section and willing to learn different styles on the

menu.

· Experience or strong interest in portion control, costing dishes and recipe

standardization (recipe cards).

· Good communication, teamwork and time-management skills; calm under pressure in a small, family-business environment.

· Formal cookery qualification (e.g. Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery) is highly

regarded.

· Food Safety Supervisor training (SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervision Skill Set) is an

advantage.

· Experience with catering/banquets and/or Indian desserts (sweets/mithai) will be considered a strong plus.

What we offer:

· Salary negotiable, with an expected range of 70,000 to 85,000 AUD per year plus super, depending on experience and skills.

· Staff meals on shift.

· Visa sponsorship may be available for the right candidate.
