This role is ideal for someone who has experience with authentic Tamil cooking and enjoys working in a close-knit, supportive environment. Our Head Chef leads the kitchen, and we're looking for someone who can work alongside her to prepare quality food and help ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.

Please note: This is a cooking-focused role. We already have dedicated staff for dishwashing and cleaning, so your responsibilities will be centred around food preparation and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food according to the Head Chef's recipes and standards.
  • Assist in preparing authentic Tamil dishes, including dosa, biryani, curries, tiffin items, and other South Indian specialties.
  • Support the kitchen during service by cooking, reheating, plating, and preparing quick side dishes.
  • Help manage kitchen operations to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently.
  • Prepare ingredients and complete food prep for the following day's menu.
  • Carry out end-of-day kitchen closing duties.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness within the cooking area.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience preparing Tamil or South Indian cuisine.
  • Good understanding of traditional Tamil ingredients, spices, and cooking methods.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency.
  • Parotta-making skills will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work well as part of a small team.

What We Offer

  • A friendly and supportive family-run workplace.
  • Opportunity to grow with a newly established restaurant
  • Stable hours and a respectful working environment.
  • The chance to showcase your skills in authentic Tamil cuisine.

If you're passionate about Tamil food and enjoy working in a hands-on kitchen, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: $26.44 – $35.00 per hour
