Full job description

Pappadams Restaurant is seeking an experienced and talented Chef to join our growing team. We specialise in authentic Indian cuisine . We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can confidently manage kitchen operations and deliver exceptional food quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes including curries, biryanis, tandoori specialties and traditional breads.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of seafood dishes including fish, prawns, crab and regional seafood specialties.
  • Experience preparing large quantities of food for high-volume restaurant, catering, takeaway, or meal production operations.
  • Develop new menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Manage food preparation, stock control and ordering.
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation and portion control.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Chef.
  • Strong experience in authentic Indian cuisine and Continental dishes.
  • Experience with seafood preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of tandoor operations, menu planning and kitchen management.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
