Chef (Indian Cuisine) – Full Time

FESTO Café – The Magic Biryani World is seeking an experienced Chef to lead kitchen operations and prepare authentic Indian and Kerala cuisine. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining food quality, consistency and efficient kitchen operations while delivering an exceptional dining experience for our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian and Kerala dishes including biryanis, curries, tandoori items, vegetarian specialties, rice dishes, naan, porotta and dosa.
  • Prepare and manage master gravies, marinades, biryani masalas and other base preparations in accordance with restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Ensure food is prepared, cooked and presented to a consistently high standard.
  • Monitor food quality, taste, portion control and presentation throughout all stages of preparation and service.
  • Contribute to menu development, recipe standardisation and seasonal menu offerings.
  • Supervise and coordinate food preparation and cooking activities within the kitchen.
  • Maintain stock levels and assist with purchasing and supplier management.
  • Inspect ingredients and finished products to ensure freshness, quality and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and restaurant policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Train, supervise and support kitchen staff as required.
  • Assist with rostering and coordinating kitchen operations during busy service periods.
  • Minimise food wastage and maintain effective cost control measures.
  • Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient restaurant operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure consistency in all dishes served and maintain the restaurant's reputation for authentic Indian cuisine.

This role requires a passionate and dedicated Chef who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high culinary standards and attention to detail.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $76,500.00 per year
