Indian Curry Chef

Location: Clyde North, VIC

Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Casual

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Indian Curry Chef to join our busy Indian restaurant kitchen. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and hands-on experience in preparing authentic Indian curries, gravies, and traditional North Indian/Punjabi dishes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian curries and main dishes.
  • Prepare and maintain curry bases, gravies, sauces, and marinades.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
  • Follow recipes and maintain the restaurant’s food standards.
  • Manage food preparation and ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory management.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Follow all food safety and workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Minimise food wastage and use ingredients efficiently.
  • Work closely with other chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Assist with menu development and new dish creation when required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Indian Curry Chef or Indian Chef.
  • Strong knowledge of North Indian and Punjabi cuisine.
  • Experience preparing dishes such as butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, korma, vindaloo, madras, palak dishes, paneer curries, lamb curries, and other traditional Indian mains.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong understanding of Indian spices, flavours, and cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
