About the Role
We are excited to announce a new job opportunity within our organisation for the role of Specialist Indigenous Support (SIS). Join our team to help shape the future at our Jimblebar site by taking a leading role in delivering a positive employee experience for the Indigenous workforce at BHP.
This role will be 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off, FIFO from Perth to Jimblebar.
The Specialist SIS works alongside leaders to improve the experience of Indigenous-identified employees in WAIO, while also contributing to enhanced cultural safety and wellbeing across the workplace. In this role, you will:
- Serve as a key point of contact for Indigenous employees, through the provision of personalised support and advice to improve employee experience.
- Advocate for Indigenous perspectives and cultural capability.
- Support the application of the BHP Indigenous Cultural Safety Framework (ICSF) and other Indigenous employee-focused initiatives aligned to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and cultural safety and wellbeing broadly.
- Work alongside leaders and employees on Indigenous social, cultural and recognition matters for site level activities.
- Where Indigenous employee and/or site needs intersect with local communities, partner with Indigenous Engagement to facilitate any necessary engagement with Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), Traditional Owner corporations and local communities.
About You
- You will have an overriding commitment to health, safety and the environment; You will be self-motivated and driven to succeed;
- You work well in a team, are a good communicator and have the ability to work independently;
- You enjoy work outdoors and are comfortable undertaking a range of activities in your day-to-day role;
- You have experience in the development and following of plans;
- It will be a role requirement that you have a current drivers licence;
- Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders including diverse cultures and/or Indigenous peoples.
- An understanding of / or experience in the mining sector and BHP’s operating environment is highly regarded but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in a similar role in case management, advocacy, community.
