Freelance / Contractor | Remote

About Dive Media

Dive Media is a boutique Australian digital marketing agency helping brands grow through strategy-led social media, SEO, email marketing and digital campaigns.

We work with a mix of businesses across Australia, creating content that is strategic, engaging, genuinely useful and built around what their audiences are actually searching for and interested in.

As we continue to grow the amount of long-form content we produce for Dive Media and our clients, we’re looking for a talented Freelance Writer to join our extended team.

About the role

We’re looking for a strong writer and researcher who can turn a brief, topic or idea into genuinely interesting, well-researched content.

You’ll primarily be writing blog articles, website content and guest articles across topics including marketing, technology, recruitment, business and professional services.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys the craft of writing and can bring original thought, research and perspective to their work. You should be able to take a topic beyond surface-level information and create content that gives the reader something genuinely useful.

You’ll receive clear briefs, target topics and any SEO requirements from the Dive Media team, so you can focus on writing great content.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Writing engaging, informative blog articles for Dive Media and our clients
  • Writing guest articles for relevant third-party publications and websites
  • Researching topics across marketing, technology, recruitment, business and other industries
  • Turning briefs and research into clear, well-structured articles
  • Bringing original perspectives, examples and insights into your writing
  • Writing content that is useful to readers while naturally supporting SEO objectives
  • Referencing credible sources and fact-checking information where required
  • Adapting your tone of voice to suit different brands and audiences
  • Following client brand guidelines and content briefs
  • Incorporating internal and external links supplied within briefs
  • Making revisions based on feedback from the Dive Media team
  • Meeting agreed deadlines and communicating clearly about workload and availability

What we're looking for

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience writing blogs, articles, website content or other long-form digital content
  • A strong portfolio or examples of published writing
  • Excellent written English, grammar and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills and the ability to break down and explain unfamiliar topics
  • A natural, engaging writing style that doesn’t feel generic or formulaic
  • An understanding of how people read and engage with content online
  • The ability to adapt your writing style across different brands, industries and audiences
  • The ability to follow detailed briefs while still producing writing that feels natural
  • Reliable communication and the ability to meet agreed deadlines

At a time when many agencies are scaling content production with AI, we’re choosing to invest more in talented writers who genuinely enjoy the craft. We want your research, judgement, and perspective to come through in every piece you write.

Of course, we use AI within our agency where it makes sense, however, generating an article from a prompt and submitting it as finished work isn’t acceptable for this role. All submitted content must return less than 20% AI-detected content through our checking process.

Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their writing and values quality as much as we do.

An understanding of SEO content writing is beneficial, although you won't be expected to conduct keyword research, develop SEO strategies or build backlinks. Our team takes care of that.
