Full job description
Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country, with a population of over 245,000 residents, Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity within our Technology Services team for a dynamic and motivated Information Technology Project Officer. This role is focused on strengthening Council’s capability in emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives. The role supports the delivery of AI-driven initiatives, cybersecurity uplift programs, and digital strategy projects that enhance Council's technology capabilities and service delivery. The role contributes to project management, research, implementation, and continuous improvement activities across Council’s technology environment.
The successful applicant will require:
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data/AI or a related field, and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in AI, cybersecurity or digital transformation
- Experience delivering and supporting IT projects
- Demonstrated analytical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work as an effective team member and establish and maintain business relationships with internal staff and external service providers
- Demonstrated understanding of risk, audit and compliance processes
- Class C drivers’ licence

About this role:
- Permanent, full-time position
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
- This position is primarily based at the Auburn and Merrylands Service Centres however the successful applicant will be expected to travel to any of Council’s approximately 30 networked sites as required to work.
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,975.66 to $2,272.01 per week, plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
