What you’ll be doing
Are you a dedicated junior doctor pursuing a future in orthopaedic surgery? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Orthopaedic Surgery team at St George and Sutherland Hospitals as an Unaccredited Trainee, where you will gain exceptional hands-on experience in both elective and trauma orthopaedics.
As an Unaccredited Trainee in Orthopaedics, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with consultants, registrars, nursing staff, allied health, and administrative teams. You will be involved in the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of patients across both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as participating in theatre.
St George Hospital is a Level 1 trauma centre, providing Orthopaedic trauma care in all subspecialties. Elective Orthopaedic surgery is performed at Sutherland Hospital.

Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- At least three years post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- High level communication skills, both written and verbal
- Skills in time management, prioritisation and problem solving
- Commitment to own continuing professional development and self-education and commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
- An interest in, and commitment to, clinical and/or laboratory research in own field or in collaboration with the existing interests of the department.
- Previous experience in surgical term relevant to the specialty
