We are seeking a permanent, full-time (76 hours fortnightly) Connections Coach to join our Housing Connect team in Launceston.
About us:
Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.
About the role:
The Connections Coach position connects people to housing and housing assistance including community supports and resources to link people to their local community. The Connections Coaches conduct assessments and brief interventions using a life stage practice approach (young people, families with or without children, single adults, and older people) providing support to people across a range of housing types.
Connections Coaches work within the Advantaged Thinking framework identifying people’s skills and capabilities and developing independence. Connections Coaches will tailor their response based on the person’s individual circumstances to achieve personalised goals based on the individual’s aspirations.

What you will be doing in this role:
- Undertake initial and comprehensive engagement and assessment processes to determine service response/resource distribution (intensity of response);
- Provide information and advice (on the Housing Connect service offers and expectations and redirection to other services where relevant);
- Address immediate needs, including assessment for an access to flexible funds for reasonable and necessary support, or if in crisis, immediate connection to short-term and brokered accommodation;
- Complete applications for housing assistance for people who are not able or do not want to use the Housing Connect Portal (e.g., social housing, private rental assistance);
- Provide light touch (Level 1) or short to medium term intervention (Level 2);
- Coach and support service users to develop and progress an immediate response or Initial Action Plan for keeping or finding housing;
- Facilitate people’s access to specialist services, mainstream opportunities, networks and resources;
- Provide feedback on progress with Action Plan(s);
- Provide detailed handover information to Key Development Coaches (KDCs) if a Level 3 response is required;
- Source and leverage existing local networks, resources and opportunities that span business, community services and education providers;
- Connect people (back) into community networks and resources and assist them to leverage personal networks;
- Identify and leverage external service system pathways that have the expertise and resources to provide a tailored, client-centred response;
- Maintain and sustain relationships in the key systems and sectors that provide opportunities, expertise, and resources across the life domains for people experiencing homelessness;
- Develop and explore the private rental market using expert knowledge and connections build on private market housing expertise and connections;
- Collect and record data and information as required.
- $95,934 to $100,538 plus super + salary sacrifice (full-time equivalent);
- not-for-profit salary packaging available that can increase your take home pay;

- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Working Screening Check;
- present a unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months;
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical;
- provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
