Who We Are
FTI Consulting is the leading global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation. We work with many of the world’s top multinational corporations, law firms, banks and private equity firms on their most important issues to deliver impact that makes a difference. From resolving disputes, navigating crises, managing risk and optimizing performance, our teams respond rapidly to dynamic and complex situations.
At FTI Consulting, you’ll work side-by side with leaders who have shaped history, helping solve the biggest challenges making headlines today. From day one, you’ll be an integral part of a focused team where you can make a real impact. You’ll be surrounded by an open, collaborative culture that embraces diversity, recognition, professional development and, most importantly, you.
Are you ready to make your impact?
About The Role
At FTI Consulting, our Data Analytics & AI team works with some of Australia's most important organisations across healthcare, transport, government and mining to help them solve real problems and deliver better outcomes for the communities they serve. We're not just crunching numbers; we're helping hospitals improve patient care, supporting government agencies to design smarter services, and enabling organisations to make decisions grounded in evidence rather than instinct.
As a graduate in this team, you'll be doing work that matters from day one. Whether it's a service review that shapes how a health program is delivered, or an analysis that informs a major strategic decision, your contributions will have a tangible impact on real people and real organisations.
What You’ll Do
One of the best things about this role is that no two days are the same. You'll be working alongside experienced consultants on live client projects, picking up new skills quickly and contributing to work that genuinely makes a difference.
On any given day, you might be digging into a dataset to uncover trends in service demand or workforce performance, pulling together research to identify what best practice looks like in a particular sector, or helping to prepare materials for a client workshop or stakeholder consultation. You could be synthesising feedback gathered from frontline staff and executives, turning a complex set of findings into a clear and compelling set of recommendations, or helping to draft a report or business case that a client will use to drive real change.
You'll also get exposure to the day-to-day rhythm of consulting by supporting project planning, tracking progress, coordinating across teams and helping to keep things moving in a fast-paced environment. Throughout all of this, you'll be working closely with both clients and FTI colleagues, building relationships and developing the skills that will shape your career in data and AI consulting. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
-
Work closely with our team and clients to support the design and delivery of end-to-end analytics solutions, including problem framing and data acquisition through to modelling, insight generation, and executive-level storytelling for clients across multiple industries
-
Understanding, cleansing and analysing client data for use in visualisation and modelling. Understanding the relationships among multiple sources and types of data, and organising this information to facilitate effective data analysis
-
Contributing to the development of robust cloud-based data pipelines and platforms
-
Applying machine learning or statistical methods (regression, classification, clustering, forecasting, NLP, etc) to real business problems.
-
Developing advanced analytics and complex system models, e.g. discrete event and agent-based simulations, systems dynamics or optimisation
-
Understanding of how to make best use of LLMs and generative AI in a business context for clients and your own work
-
Develop dashboards and analytics solutions that generate measurable business value and are built to last beyond the engagement.
-
Preparing materials for client meetings, workshops, interviews and stakeholder consultations.
-
Capturing and synthesising stakeholder feedback from consultations with executives, clinicians, operational leaders, frontline staff, consumers and sector partners.
-
Developing clear, practical insights and recommendations to help clients improve how services are planned, delivered, governed and measured.
-
Assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations, business cases, implementation plans and other client deliverables.
-
Supporting project management activities, including planning, tracking actions, managing risks and coordinating inputs across the project team.
How You’ll Grow
-
Assigned a buddy and a coach to ensure a smooth transition to working life.
-
On-the-job training and coaching.
-
The chance to work onsite with clients and stakeholders.
-
The opportunity to participate in business development and marketing activities.
-
You will be part of our Graduate Development Program, which includes a learning curriculum designed to meet your needs.
-
Benefit from personalised training and development opportunities that will allow you to enhance both your professional and personal skills. Be part of a learning culture where your growth is as important to us as the work we do.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
-
A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Analytics.
-
Hands on experience with modern analytics and visualisation tools (examples include Python, R, Sql, Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau etc) and/or cloud tools (examples include Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks)
-
Experience leveraging AI tools such as Machine Learning, and LLMs to solve problems
-
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to work with data, evidence and ambiguity.
-
Highly motivated, strong work ethic, and an eagerness to learn and grow your skills across the data landscape
-
Good lateral thinking and enjoy solving problems using data.
-
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, practical messages.
-
Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, including confidence working with different stakeholders.
-
Empathy, professionalism, and respect when working with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
-
Work experience, internships, volunteering or relevant project experience in a data or cloud-focused area will be beneficial but not essential.
-
This role may require travel to client and FTI offices.
-
Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
