Languages Teacher (Senior School)

Position Title Languages Teacher (Senior School)

Reporting Manager Head of Languages

Role Purpose All staff have the responsibility to support Danebank’s aspiration and intent,
upholding its core values and Christian foundation.

The Language teacher is passionate about learning and deeply committed to
the wellbeing and growth of each student.

In partnership with their Head of Department and Language Department,
the Language teacher collaborates, shares teaching practice, and brings
innovative ideas to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

The Language teacher delivers an inspiring and differentiated learning
program through high quality teaching in order to develop deep
understanding and develop students as reflective and powerful learners.
The teacher ensures professional compliance, supports policy and follows
school procedures and systems.

Every teacher is expected to be involved in the learning, student care,
outdoor education and co-curricular programs as these are pivotal to the
holistic development of each student.

Specific Duties and
Responsibilities

Actively support the Christian ethos of the school, modelling a Christian
example in all activities.

Create inclusive, safe and supportive learning environments that model
Christian world views.

Teaching and Learning

• Maintain a sound understanding of the content and structure of

the NESA curriculum and contemporary learning.

• Support students to learn how to learn, developing individuals as

self directed, powerful learners.

• Plan and teach well-sequenced teaching and learning programs

that engage students and promote learning.

• Provide rigorous academic learning, supporting students to achieve

their personal best and pursue learning growth through
personalisation of learning.

• Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies

appropriate to the learning of the girls.

• Purposely integrate literacy, numeracy and ICT into teaching and

learning programs.

• Regularly monitor and assess student learning and growth and

analyse data to inform and improve teaching practice.

• Inspire and engage students and to develop in them a love and

appreciation of mathematics.

• Ensure that positive and constructive feedback is provided to

students in a timely manner to improve the students'
understanding.

• Maintain all administrative records to a high standard including

programmes and registers, attendance, wellbeing, NCCD,
assessment and reports.

Professional Development Share knowledge and resources, develop skills and ensure best

practice principles are applied across the department and
Danebank’s professional learning community.

• Actively seek appropriate and timely professional development.
• Engage in the regular performance appraisal process and

Wellbeing

• Adhere to a holistic approach to student learning, engaging with

the school’s Becoming Framework for student development.

• Work in collaboration with Head of Department, departmental

colleagues and Year Coordinators to address student management
and behavioural issues.

• Work collaboratively to deliver the Student Wellbeing programs,

refer students to specialist staff where required and liaise with
middle leaders as appropriate.

• Establish rapport with students and provide ongoing

encouragement to support students’ emotional and social
wellbeing.

• Maintain professional confidentiality on information about

students.

• Provide the appropriate duty of care and supervision of students.

Communication and Engagement

• Establish and maintain effective and respectful relationships with

students, staff and parents.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers.
• Plan and participate in excursions.
• Respond to parent enquiries regarding curriculum and student

matters in a timely manner to ensure positive outcomes for
student learning.

• Prepare meaningful feedback and reports regularly to students and

parents.

• Be available to assist students out of class where needed, via

negotiation between teacher and students.

• Attend chapel services
• Attend other School events (e.g. theatre productions) and maintain

an active connection with the broader community.

Any other duties as may be required by the Principal and/or Deputy

Principal Senior School.
