Are you passionate about technology and providing excellent customer service? We are seeking a motivated and reliable Casual ICT Support Officer to join our team and provide technical support across Council's information and communication technology environment.

About the Role
As a Junior Casual ICT Support Officer, you will provide frontline technical support to Council staff, helping ensure the smooth operation of computer systems, software applications, mobile devices, and network services. You will assist with troubleshooting, device deployment, user support, and maintaining ICT assets.

This position is based On Site at Yass Valley Council Administration Building, 209 Comur Street Yass, NSW 2582.

Key Responsibilities

Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:

  • Provide level 1 ICT support (resetting passwords and troubleshooting basic issues like software installation problems or connectivity issues) and manage the internal helpdesk queue.
  • Assist with training, hardware and software installation and maintenance requirements.
  • Liaise with Council Officers over phone or remote connection.
  • Keep Council officers informed of request progress up to point of resolution or escalation.
  • Perform basic hardware and software upgrades and maintenance.
  • Assist with the deployment, relocation, installation and configuration of desktop and mobile computing devices and peripheral devices whilst under supervision.
  • Manage stock levels of consumables, spares, and replacement equipment. Assist with Asset Management of all IT Equipment.
  • Assist Team members with other tasks or project related work as required.
  • Ensure ICT equipment is kept tidy, labelled and easy to find in the ICT build room.
  • Assist with the packaging and disposal of E-Waste and recording details for our records.
  • All assigned duties and allocated tasks are under the direction and supervision of other ICT Support Staff.
  • Willingness to work out of hours as required.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role, providing customer service.
  • The ability to provide level 1 ICT support, including password resets and troubleshooting basic software or connectivity issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work methodically and troubleshoot problems.
