Ongoing Full Time – 76 hours per fortnight
Available from 9th November 2026
An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Hospital Medical Officer to join the Medical Services team at Portland District Health.
About you:
- Permanent Australian Residency
- Part 1 AMC passed with a preference for Part 2 completion
- Australian experience preferred
- MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification acceptable to AMC and registered with AHPRA
- Successful AMC completion (if applicable)
- Experience in Australian Healthcare system or comparable system
- Eligible for unrestricted AHPRA registration (no notations – excluding provisional/limited)
- Ability to manage common medical and surgical clinical emergency presentations on the ward or in our Urgent Care Centre
- Experience in self directed organisation of work to achieve agreed outcomes
- Comprehensive knowledge regarding delivery of medical services at a HMO level
- Awareness of medico-legal issues, clinical risk management clinical governance and relevant legislation
- Ability to work and contribute effectively to a team environment
- Highly developed organisational skills

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:
- Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology
