About this opportunity

Assist with children’s art classes at Cairns Art Gallery. School holidays are abuzz with excitement and creativity. Each holiday period Cairns Art Gallery offers a dynamic program of specialised art workshops to inspire kids aged 4 – 14 years. BLUE CARD ESSENTIAL.

This role has the additional component of assisting with the children’s classes. You will still rostered to the other galleries if you have expressed interest in that. BLUE CARD IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE. PLEASE APPLY FOR THE OTHER POSITION IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A BLUE CARD.

Volunteers at the Gallery may be asked to undertake a range of tasks, including:

Assist with children’s art classes at Cairns Art Gallery:
  • Greet parents and sign children for classes
  • Assist the teacher in setting up art materials
  • Assist children during classes to make their artworks
  • Supervise young students in the Gallery to ensure art and walls are not touched
  • Assist the teacher in cleaning brushes, materials

Transport

Close to city bus stops. Council is currently providing parking in the Esplanade Lagoon car park. Volunteers provide their registration to the Gallery and will not be booked if parked in the Esplanade Lagoon car park between the rostered hours. We also reimburse parking if the council parking is full.
