About The Landings

LDK Seniors’ Living’s luxury village, The Landings, is sprawled over 11.87-hectares in North Turramurra, on Sydney’s upper north shore. The village neighbours the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, is near Lady Davidson Private Hospital, and is a short drive to the North Turramurra golf course, bowling club, cafes and shops. The Landings comprises 220 architecturally designed one, two and three -bedroom villas and apartments. LDK creates a true sense of belonging, community, and vibrancy for residents through a variety of group activities and hospitality events. On-site facilities include an arts and craft room, gymnasium and heated indoor pool. About the Role

The Kitchen Hand is responsible for maintaining the order and cleanliness of the kitchen’s facilities up to government and company sanitation standards

The Kitchen Hand will have responsibility for maintaining the cleaning schedule of the kitchen. This includes sanitisation of the Village kitchen, washing of all pots and pans and china crockery, cleaning of kitchen walls, floors, cool rooms and kitchen equipment, and garbage disposal.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Clean all kitchen surfaces, mop, and sweep kitchen floors, put away dishes, pots and pans, organize food, clean out freezers, and remove trash.
  • Ensure all dishes are adequately sanitized by maintaining required water temperature and chemical levels. Other tasks including polishing silverware, doing chemical dips when applicable, and dry and put dishes away.
  • Assist Chefs by completing food preparation tasks. This can include everything from organizing the refrigerator and freezer to chopping vegetables, washing fruit, defrosting meat, and preparing sauces and marinades. Preparation of dishes that require little to no cooking, such as salads.
  • Ensure appliances and cooking equipment are properly used and maintained, take inventory of supplies and food, ensuring that the kitchen has accurate and adequate stock of consumables.
  • Support kitchen staff as and when required and in accordance with hygiene and safety regulations
  • Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Head Chef or other member of the management team

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Qualifications/Certificates

  • Knowledge of foodborne illnesses, prevention, and sanitisation
  • Knowledge of chemical storage procedure and safety requirements
  • Food Safety Certificate

Professional Experience

  • One year of experience working in a similar role and/or environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and juggle competing priorities in a busy environment
  • Ability to take initiative and resolve queries in a practical and positive manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and commitment to a high level of cleanliness and sanitisation
  • Ability to work proactively and unsupervised
  • Positive and flexible approach to work
