Job Description


Join our busy laboratory team as a Laboratory Assistant in Sample Preparation and build your practical experience in routine laboratory operations. In this hands-on and physical role, you’ll support the preparation and analysis of soil, water and air samples, helping the laboratory manage increasing sample volumes and maintain efficient turnaround times.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, routine work, can follow methods carefully, and is flexible to work shifts as required to support continued growth across the business.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking routine sample preparation for soil, water and air analyses.
  • Handling acids, solvents and other reagents safely and in line with procedures.
  • Ensuring work is completed on time, with attention to due dates and priorities.
  • Following analytical methods, quality requirements and laboratory procedures.
  • Preparing standards and reagents, and accurately recording data and results.
  • Assisting chemists and supervisors with tasks such as loading instruments and waste disposal.

Qualifications


What you’ll bring to the role

We’re looking for someone who is methodical, reliable and comfortable with hands-on, physical laboratory work. To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • A Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (TAFE) or equivalent qualification
  • Around 1–2 years of laboratory experience, sample preparation or similar practical experience
  • Flexibility to work shifts and support changing workload requirements
