Freight Operations Team Leader

• Lead freight operations during major state projects, driving efficiency and innovation within V/Line’s Freight & Third Party Access Team.

• Oversee freight performance, planning, and incident response to keep operations efficient and compliant.

About the role

As the Freight Operations Team Leader, you will represent V/Line’s Freight Team in project forums to ensure freight objectives are understood and integrated. You will manage freight operations, interface with rail operators, and support performance, planning, and compliance while fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

Key accountabilities include:

• Represent V/Line Freight in project forums and ensure freight objectives are met

• Manage freight operations and review interface agreements

• Support freight performance, load planning, and incident management communications & follow up

About you

You thrive in a collaborative environment, bringing strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills to a high-pressure, dynamic setting.

• Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Extensive experience in freight operations (rail preferred; road logistics considered)

• Knowledge of Victorian Rail Network

• Operational planning and service delivery expertise

• Mandatory: Freight experience (rail preferred)

• Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights
