- Great opportunity to join Youth Justice on an ongoing basis in Melbourne.
- Coordinate the day-to-day administrative requirements and tasks to support the effective operations of the YJ Custodial Learning and Development Team
- Contribute to improving the outcomes of young people's futures.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. Youth Justice is committed to the demonstration of the Victorian Public Sector values. The values are: responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
Youth justice custodial precincts accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to youth justice.
Operational Policy and Workforce deliver strategic and operational support to Youth Justice frontline custodial and community workforces across reform, policy implementation, staff capability, compliance, and workforce support.
This work helps promote consistent practice, legislative compliance, and effective service delivery.
The Opportunity
- Ongoing, full time position based in Werribee, but with travel to different locations across the state may be required
- VPS 3 role: $81,496 - $98,955 per year plus superannuation.
- Coordinate the day-to-day administrative requirements and tasks to support the effective operations of the YJ Custodial Learning and Development Team, including administrative functions that relate to the accredited training program.
- Support YJ Community and YJ Central L&D Teams in providing administrative functions such as data entry and reporting
- Liaise with and maintain effective and professional communication channels with a range of internal and external stakeholders including training participants, suppliers, or other teams.
- Support the implementation of the annual training calendar for YJ L&D and communicate to key stakeholders
- Organise and administrate the on boarding of new YJ custodial staff which includes equipment provision, systems accesses and other system supports
- Organise and coordinate available learning materials and relevant resources to support training programs and daily delivery schedules
- Maintain standard reporting functions on all training across Youth Justice Custodial Services, including routine and on demand customised reports
- Support the organisation of training sessions including booking of venues, staff invitations, guest speakers, and preparation of resources (such as setting up training rooms).
- Maintain efficient administration systems and processes including document tracking and control, use of TRIM and NEXUS and proactively creating and implementing new systems to streamline processes as required.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in administrative functions of a learning and development system including the use of LMS, Oracle, and data bases
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, with well-developed skills utilising Word, Power Point, and Excel
- Experience in providing administrative office support, ideally within a sensitive and/or complex setting.
- A current Victorian driver's licence
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
