Manager Supply Chain - Lara

About the role

Reporting to the Director Asset Coordination, the Manager Supply Chain provides leadership and operational oversight across logistics services, procurement, contracts, commercial management and inventory management. Leading a specialist team, you'll work closely with stakeholders across the business to strengthen supply chain capability, deliver value for money outcomes, drive continuous improvement, support future planning and ensure operational requirements are delivered effectively.


Key accountabilities include
:

  • Lead and develop the Supply Chain team, setting clear priorities and driving performance.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, goals and performance measures for the function.
  • Oversee procurement activities to ensure efficient, compliant and value-for-money outcomes.
  • Lead supply chain operations across inventory, warehousing, transport and logistics services.
  • Manage supplier relationships, contracts and commercial arrangements across the Assets and Maintenance Group.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, inventory and contract management practices.
  • Support demand planning and resource supply arrangements to enable effective delivery of maintenance and project works.
  • Contribute to business planning, budgets and forecasting activities.
  • Influence stakeholders to adopt improved and more consistent ways of working.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and government financial management requirements.


Based primarily at Lara, this role offers a blend of site, office and home-based work, providing the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, influence network-wide outcomes and contribute to the future direction of supply chain operations across V/Line.


About you

We're looking for a collaborative and people-focused leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational delivery. You will build strong relationships, lead with empathy, bring others on the journey through change, and create an environment where people feel supported, valued and clear on expectations. You'll be comfortable influencing stakeholders, driving improvement initiatives and helping establish a more connected and consistent approach across the business.


Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a supply chain, logistics or related environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop capability and deliver business outcomes.
  • Experience influencing and driving change across teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability.
  • Experience implementing process improvements, new systems or revised ways of working.
  • Ability to balance day-to-day operational requirements with longer-term planning objectives.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, including experience managing procurement activities, supplier relationships and contractual arrangements.
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a focus on continuous improvement.


Desirable

  • Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards.
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.

This role offers a starting salary from $184,360 inclusive of superannuation, with the potential for a higher package based on skills, experience and overall suitability.
