About the role

The City of Sydney Library provides a space for our vibrant communities to grow, learn, connect and create.

The nine branches offer a key front-line service in the community for local residents, students, visitors, tourists and workers. We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer focussed and motivated Library Assistant to join the City of Sydney library team.

This is a targeted role for someone with a lived experienced with disability.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in providing high quality customer service including to all members of the community
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop skills in a range of library services including: customer enquiries, technology assistance, and circulation services
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop skills and to support the delivery of library learning programs, including technology, collections, early years, children’s, youth, adult and outreach programs

Applicants must be able to work across 4 days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (10am-3pm) and Friday (10:15am-6pm) and willing to undertake work across any of the nine City branches as required.


The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration, medical assessment and working with children check.
