About the role


If you are an early school leaver and looking to start your career journey with an established & well-loved brand – now is your chance!


With a fleet of 40 vessels Transdev Sydney Ferries aims to provide on time running and outstanding service reliability and we can’t do this without our people to come along for the ride.


In this journey to obtaining your trades role you will be committed to completing a certificate in the trade of your choice. Attending work and completing study tasks in your TAFE course.


This role will start in the new year 2027 with opportunities in the following roles:


  • Electrician
  • Fitter Machinist

· Boilermaker


What You’ll Do


  • Work side-by-side with qualified trades and engineering supervisors
  • Learn how to maintain and repair assets on our ferries
  • Get exposure to shipbuilding, marine maintenance, and repair techniques
  • Take part in problem-solving and fault-finding tasks with your mentor


What We’re Looking For


  • A genuine interest in mechanical (maybe you liked tech, science or hands-on subjects at school)
  • Someone who’s curious, a problem-solver, and committed to learning
  • Good with your hands and keen to learn both at TAFE and on the job
  • A pre-apprenticeship in electrical, fitter or boilermaker would be a bonus but not essential
