About Us

National Hotel Complex Bendigo is a well-established hospitality and accommodation venue located in Bendigo, Victoria. We offer a range of accommodation options, including motel rooms and self-contained apartments, along with on-site bar, bistro and function facilities.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Hotel Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our hotel and motel accommodation business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the property while maintaining high standards of guest service, staff performance and overall business operations.

1. Hotel & Accommodation Operations

  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the hotel and motel accommodation facilities.
  • Oversee front office, reservations, housekeeping and other accommodation-related operations to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Monitor room availability, occupancy, bookings and room status and ensure smooth check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Ensure guest rooms, common areas, facilities and equipment are maintained to appropriate presentation, safety and operational standards.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency, productivity and guest satisfaction.

2. Guest Service & Customer Experience

  • Maintain high standards of customer service throughout the property.
  • Respond to guest enquiries, requests, feedback and complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve service standards and the overall guest experience.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with regular guests, groups and corporate clients.

3. Staff Management & Leadership

  • Supervise hotel staff and coordinate daily staffing requirements according to operational needs.
  • Prepare and monitor staff rosters and allocate duties to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Monitor employee performance, conduct and service standards and provide appropriate direction, training and support.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees as required.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism and consistent service standards across the hotel.

4. Revenue & Financial Performance

  • Monitor room occupancy, accommodation revenue, bookings and operational performance.
  • Monitor room pricing and revenue strategies and identify opportunities to improve occupancy and profitability.
  • Prepare and monitor operational budgets and forecasts in consultation with senior management.
  • Monitor labour costs and operating expenses and implement appropriate cost-control measures.
  • Manage purchasing requirements and liaise with suppliers to ensure adequate supplies and effective cost control.

5. Property, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and operational facilities to maintain required property standards.
  • Coordinate repairs, maintenance and contractor services and ensure maintenance issues are addressed promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, liquor licensing, food safety, hygiene, accommodation and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate safety and compliance procedures and ensure required licences, inspections and records are kept up to date.

6. Functions, Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with food and beverage, kitchen and function teams to support group bookings, functions and major events.
  • Ensure accommodation requirements associated with functions and group bookings are effectively coordinated.
  • Maintain appropriate operational, accommodation, staffing and compliance records and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Participate in management meetings and contribute to business planning, property improvements and operational initiatives.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Previous experience in hotel, motel, accommodation management or a similar hospitality management position.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel and accommodation operations, including reservations, front office, housekeeping, guest services and daily property operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, supervising and coordinating staff, including rostering, performance management and maintaining service standards.
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.
  • Sound financial and administrative skills, including an understanding of budgets, labour costs, operating expenses, revenue performance and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, with a strong focus on creating a positive guest experience.
  • Ability to lead by example, motivate team members and maintain high standards of professionalism and service.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy and fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety, food safety, liquor licensing and other relevant compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, kitchen, functions and administration teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach, with the flexibility to assist across different areas of the business when required.
  • Availability to work a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, according to operational requirements.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
