Location: Gladstone QLD, Mackay QLD, Townsville QLD, Newcastle NSW, Wollongong NSW, Adelaide SA, Port Hedland WA, Esperance WA and other regional Australian ports.

Our Head Office is based in Perth, WA and we are seeking the following roles for a full-time position in multiple locations in the following areas: Gladstone QLD, Mackay QLD, Townsville QLD, Newcastle NSW, Wollongong NSW, Adelaide SA, Port Hedland WA, Esperance WA and other regional Australian ports.

About the role:

Due to sustained growth and continued success, Propel Marine is seeking an experienced Class I Marine Engineer or Master Mariner to join our successful team and play a vital role in our expansion.

You will be actively involved in field activities and participating within a team of experienced professionals.

This opportunity is well suited to someone who has people caring capability and is looking to be part of a team which is shaping processes and contributing to meeting and exceeding targets.

There will be interstate and intrastate travel involved as demanded by the nature of the Marine industry and our company requirements.

About you:

Working with a dynamic team dedicated to continuous improvement, your diversity of thought and practical experience will be embraced.

  • Class I Marine Engineer or Master Mariner
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years sailing experience in the rank of Chief Engineer or Master Class I
  • Experience in Marine Surveying preferred.
  • Experience in Class Surveys preferred.
  • Experience sailing onboard Bulk Carriers & Container Vessels is essential.
  • Conversant with local rules, regulations and terminal operations.
  • Valid MSIC or ability to obtain the same.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Be able to pass Medical/ Drug and alcohol test.

Job Activities:

Marine surveys including but not limited to the following:

  • Hold inspections
  • Attendance during Vessel Repairs
  • Draft surveys
  • Cargo Trimming
  • Oil / Chemical tanker quantity surveys and sampling
  • On hire / Off hire bunker and condition surveys
  • Flag State Inspections
  • Quality surveys
  • Container damage surveys
  • Cargo sampling
