Your Role
As a Marine Specialist in the Army you’ll operate a variety of high-performance vessels in the Army on military operations and disaster-relief scenarios.

You’ll be a member of a large and highly organised team, where you'll play a pivotal role within the Army’s distribution network. Your day-to-day tasks will involve planning the movements of personnel, supplies and equipment – and be responsible for their safe delivery by water.

Common Duties

  • Operate Army watercraft and amphibious craft
  • Perform deck hand duties on board Army Watercraft including basic navigation procedures, lookout and seamanship duties and carrying out basic fault finding on equipment
  • Operate weapons fitted to amphibious and landing craft
  • Operate communication and electronic navigation equipment
  • General soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, camouflaging of vehicles and field equipment, and navigation.

Competitive Salary + Generous Superannuation of 16.4%
Starting salary while training: $60,517 per year

Salary after completing training: $86,453 per year

Your salary will continue to increase based on your rank and years of service.

Location
Once you have completed your training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. Most of these positions are located in QLD but posting opportunities also exist in VIC, NSW, WA and the NT.

Eligibility
For this role, you must:

  • Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Maths
  • If you are not an Australian Citizen, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page to confirm you meet the requirements for a career in the ADF
  • Hold a provisional or full Australian state or territory driver’s licence
  • Be reasonably fit and healthy
  • Be able to have your background checked
