You will thrive in a fast-paced workshop environment where quality, safety, and customer satisfaction are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dismantle and remove engine assemblies and mechanical parts for thorough inspection, identifying worn, damaged, or defective components requiring repair or replacement
  • Repair and replace faulty parts, reassemble mechanical systems, and reference manufacturer service manuals to ensure work meets specification
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements, and tune-ups to optimise vehicle performance and ensure compliance with emissions and pollution regulations
  • Test and adjust mechanical components following repair, verifying correct operation and performance to the required standard
  • Inspect vehicles to assess roadworthiness and either issue relevant certificates or prepare detailed reports outlining the work required to meet compliance standards
  • Carry out safety inspections and pre-delivery checks on vehicles to confirm they are fit for road use before returning them to customers
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date service records, job cards, and documentation in line with workshop procedures
  • Communicate clearly with service advisors and customers regarding fault findings, recommended repairs, and estimated timeframes
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with workplace health and safety requirements, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained
  • Stay current with advances in vehicle technology, manufacturer updates, and industry best practices through ongoing training and development

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (AUR30620) or equivalent trade qualification
  • Current and valid driver's licence appropriate to the vehicles being serviced
  • Proven experience as a qualified Motor Mechanic in a professional workshop environment
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair petrol engines and a broad range of mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with computer-based diagnostic equipment and workshop management systems
  • Solid understanding of workplace health and safety obligations within an automotive workshop
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under time pressure
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for liaising with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Physically capable of performing the manual demands of the role, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience servicing hybrid or electric light vehicles
  • Familiarity with multiple vehicle makes and models, including European, Japanese, and Australian brands
  • Current automotive industry registration or equivalent licencing where applicable by state or territory
  • Prior experience conducting roadworthiness inspections and issuing safety certificates
  • Additional certifications in areas such as air conditioning re-gassing (ARC licence) or auto-electrical systems
  • Exposure to dealership or high-volume workshop environments

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive remuneration package with clear pathways for career progression and advancement into senior or supervisory roles
  • Access to ongoing manufacturer training, upskilling opportunities, and support for further certifications
  • A supportive, team-oriented workshop culture that values quality workmanship and professional pride
