Make a difference every day
Join the Local Laws Team as a Ranger and help shape safe, healthy and welcoming communities for today and tomorrow.
No two days are the same. As a Local Laws Ranger, you’ll join a team of more than 40 dedicated professionals committed to educating the community, resolving compliance issues and applying legislation fairly, consistently and professionally. Every day presents new opportunities to make a positive difference while protecting community safety, amenity and the environment.
In addition, you'll also:
educate and engage with the community on State legislation and Council local laws
investigate complaints and undertake regulatory compliance activities
exercise enforcement powers where required, including issuing infringement notices and impounding animals, vehicles and abandoned goods
patrol streets, parks and public spaces to proactively identify and respond to community concerns
accurately record customer interactions, interviews, investigations and compliance actions
provide practical advice, guidance and customer-focused solutions to the community
Whether you're educating residents, resolving complex compliance matters or responding to community concerns, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day
Please note: The Local Laws Ranger positions require successful applicants to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days (1 in 3 weekends) as part of the ordinary hours and participate in council's "After Hours On-Call and Programmed Overtime Roster" service. This will include working every third weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
About you
You are an experienced compliance professional who can confidently interpret and apply legislation, conduct investigations and make sound regulatory decisions.
You thrive in a role that balances education, customer service and enforcement. You build positive relationships while managing challenging situations with professionalism, integrity and sound judgement.
You have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, are proficient in using technology and can manage competing priorities in a dynamic regulatory environment. You are committed to workplace safety and maintain high standards of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Experience in animal management and the humane handling of domestic and livestock animals will be highly regarded.
