The Role
The Manager, Medical Education Unit is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Prince of Wales Hospital Medical Education Unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient and responsive medical education and training services.
The role leads the development and implementation of medical education priorities in partnership with key stakeholders, supporting organisational objectives, accreditation requirements and the evolving needs of the medical workforce.
Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, training and/or education, or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of delivery of educational training programs in the NSW health care environment, including application of policy; principles and guidelines in relation to Junior Medical Officer Medical Education and Training.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead; engage; influence; negotiate and motivate at all levels of the organisation to achieve outcomes, and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Detailed knowledge of contemporary issues in education and training in a health care setting, both locally and more broadly.
- Proven experience in the implementation and coordination of effective education and training programs in a health care setting.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills that lead to the development of innovative solutions to workplace issues in relation to education and training.
- Demonstrated human resource management experience and demonstrated capacity to deliver outcomes
- Ability to travel, as required, and holds a valid NSW Driver’s Licence.
