The opportunity

Reporting to the Mine Technology Supervisor, the Mine Technology Technician will be a founding member of the recently established Pilgangoora Mine Technology Team.

PLS has big plans, and this team will be central to the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Operation Technology equipment used by the mining and processing teams.

This is a permanent full-time position that operates on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth

Key responsibilities

Leadership, organizational design & systems

• Use and support the implementation of systems and processes.
• Identify and highlight maintenance needs.
• Identify training requirements and opportunities for on- the-job training and learning.
• Where required, work with and guide Contractors in PLS procedures.
• Participation in CAPEX and OPEX projects.
• Consistently display behaviours that align with the company values.
• All incidents are reported into INX.

Technology Installation and Support

• Manage and ensure optimal operation and high availability of IT/OT technology infrastructure and edge devices.
• Provide first level support to fault find and repair of MineStar Fleet Management System including Servers, Client Software and on-board hardware.
• Administer, maintain and support the Motorola DMR Radio system.
• Program and configure Wi-Fi equipment to deliver mobility solutions across the operation.
• Inspect communications and electronic systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and business needs.
• Configure and install Video Monitoring System production and safety cameras.
• Execute work to plan, schedule and quality as specified in the technology management plan (including technology support and project delivery).
• Respond to service interruption (unplanned) requests as defined and agreed by response levels and priority.
• Escalate to the Mine Technology Engineer and support Perth based teams in the resolution of connectivity and system-based incidents and related faults, ensuring fast service resolution.
• Participate in Root Causes Analysis process and documentation to identify actions to mitigate fault re-occurrence, and drive implementation of agreed actions.
• Follow Pilbara Minerals Technology methodologies including request, change and problem management.
• Prioritize and schedule problems and escalate when required.
• Liaise with service providers as requested by the role.
• Installing, configuring, and maintaining operation technology equipment
• Ensure risk assessments are performance for area of responsibility, and associated risks are captured.
• Providing onsite 24/7 support for critical system failures.

Technology Management

• Ensure system documentation and associated maintenance plans for all operation technology and related assets are up to date.
• Ensure all technology assets are documented and record maintained in Pilbara Minerals asset register.
• Ensure fit-for-purpose maintenance plans are in place for critical technology assets and equipment.
• Manage OT equipment stock and critical spare to ensure replacement, repair and maintenance can be carried out efficiently.
• Execute maintenance plans, and associated task as well as system testing ensuring appropriate processes followed.
• Red marking relevant documentation and procedures for the Mine Technology Engineer

About you

• Certificate IV or Trade Qualifications in Auto Electrical, Radio Communications or Electronics or Diploma in a Technology; or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• 2-3 years’ experience in an electrical communication systems role
• Practical experience in the maintenance of onboard operation technology equipment
• 2 years’ experience supporting Operation technology and assets in a 24/7 production environment.
• WA Class C Driver’s License
• Mining operation technology application and equipment support experience (Fleet Management, process control, exploration… )
• In Pit Wireless Mesh Network maintenance and support including trailer management.
• Excellent problem and analytical solving skills
• Experience of (FMS) Fleet Management Systems, GPS and wireless network systems
• Ability to perform initial troubleshooting of operational technology equipment system issues and summaries for action by vendor or support teams.
• Ability to work as part of a team
