If you are a second or penultimate year student studying Mining Engineering with a keen interest to work in the mining industry and would like to build a career that’s as rewarding as it is impactful. We strongly encourage you to apply.

Our 12-week Summer Vacation Program has been designed to set you up for long-term success. Through hands-on placements, real projects and dedicated support from experienced mentors, you will develop the practical skills and confidence needed to thrive — all while earning as you learn.

What you can look forward to:

As a Northern Star Vacation Student, you'll play a key role in supporting our operations by working alongside some of the best mining experts in the industry to gain real, hands-on exposure to your field.

You'll gain practical experience putting your studies into action, with site-based placements available across Open Pit, Underground or Exploration, and the choice between Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) and residential roles across multiple operations.

Our program offers practical exposure to modern mining operations in a live, real-time environment, giving you the foundation to build strong technical capabilities for a successful career.

As part of our Vacation Program, you will have:

• Paid, first-hand practical work experience at multiple sites, with residential and FIFO roles on offer
• The choice between Underground, Open Pit or Exploration opportunities
• Professional mentoring from industry-leading mining experts
• A fast-tracked pathway to our Graduate Program once you complete your studies
• Opportunities for ongoing employment throughout the year

As a Northern Star Vacation Student, you will learn from some of the best in the industry. We provide site-based placements with both Fly-in, Fly-out (FIFO) and residential options across multiple operations on offer. All our Vacation Students have the option to choose their own adventure – you will have the ability to pick between various different mining methods such as Open Pit, Underground and Exploration.

If you are a second or penultimate year student studying Surveying with a keen interest to work in the mining industry and would like to build a career that’s as rewarding as it is impactful - We strongly encourage you to apply.

From there, your application will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with Managers from the relevant departments. If you are successful, a member of our Future Talent team will be in touch to organise your pre-employment checks before beginning the onboarding process.

Candidates must meet our pre-employment criteria which includes a medical, drug and alcohol screening, relevant right to work and valid Australian national police clearance.
