Our team of 24,000 people are full hearted, open minded and all in. Together, we provide more than 250 integrated services for every stage of life at over 50 locations and in the community across south-east Melbourne, Victoria, serving 1.2 million residents in the South Metro Local Health Service Network.

Communication Advisor
Lead internal and change communications across one of Victoria’s largest health services
12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Based at Monash Medical Centre in Clayton.
About the Role
No two days will look the same. You might be advising a senior leader on how to communicate a complex operational change, drafting a staff announcement, preparing speaking points, coordinating intranet content, supporting an event or helping identify and manage reputational risks. You will bring structure, judgement and creativity to fast-moving priorities, while keeping our people and patients at the centre of your work.
We are looking for 2 experienced Communications Advisors to join our Communication and Engagement team on a fixed-term basis to cover parental leave.
In this role, you will develop and deliver communication strategies that support operational performance, strengthen employee engagement and help our people understand, adopt and respond to change.
Working closely with senior executives, clinical and administrative leaders, and colleagues across the Communication and Engagement function, you will provide trusted advice, manage communication projects and create clear, effective content for a wide range of audiences and channels.
About You
You are a confident and adaptable communications professional who can translate complexity into clear, practical and engaging communication. You build trusted relationships, provide sound advice and know how to tailor messages for different audiences, including busy frontline teams and senior leaders.
You will bring strong writing and editing skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality work within tight timeframes. Experience in health services is not essential, but you will be comfortable working in a large, complex organisation and able to quickly understand public health issues, priorities and stakeholders.
What you need
A degree in Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
Demonstrated experience delivering communications for internal audiences, change activity or complex organisational priorities.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write and edit for a range of channels.
Strong stakeholder management, influencing and advisory skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
A current and satisfactory Working with Children Check.
What we offer
A meaningful role supporting communications across a major public health service.
Opportunities to work with senior leaders and contribute to organisational priorities.
A collaborative Communication and Engagement team environment.
Hybrid working, with an expectation of on-site attendance 2–3 days per week for full-time employees.
Salary packaging and public health sector benefits.
