Full job description
The purpose of this role is to provide high-quality laboratory services within the Cytogenetics Laboratory, applying scientific knowledge and judgement to perform diagnostic testing and analysis using cytogenetic and molecular techniques that support patient diagnosis and treatment.
What you'll do
In this role you will analyse patient specimens using a range of cytogenetic and molecular techniques, including chromosome studies, FISH, microarray, QF-PCR and next generation sequencing (NGS) assays. You will perform diagnostic testing in accordance with professional and accreditation standards, manage your own workload, contribute to quality and compliance activities, maintain effective relationships with clinicians and laboratory colleagues, support training and development activities, and contribute to the delivery of statewide genomics services.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
Holds a relevant tertiary qualification in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
Has experience or a strong interest in cytogenetics, genomics or molecular diagnostics
Can apply scientific judgement and analytical skills to diagnostic testing activities
Has strong communication and teamwork skills
Is committed to quality, safety and continuous improvement
Can work effectively within a specialised laboratory environment and maintain high professional standard
