Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

The Team & Role

The department of respiratory medicine comprises sessional medical specialists, advance trainees in respiratory medicine, basic physician trainees and HMOs. We provide clinical care for all respiratory conditions including non-invasive ventilation or refer to super-specialist services (eg cystic fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension) where appropriate.

We offer comprehensive lung function and cardio-pulmonary exercise testing and overnight polysomnography with laboratories staffed by high quality and committed scientists.

We provide diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy services.

We are supported by high quality diagnostic and interventional radiological services.

The position is for a casual / locum respiratory physician.

Key responsibilities may include provision of ward service and out-patient consulting services as per the Position Description.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential Criteria #1 Registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration

Essential Criteria #2 FRACP with Subspecialty Recognition in Respiratory Medicine

Desirable Criteria #1 FRACP with Subspecialty Recognition in Sleep Medicine

Desirable Criteria #2 Up to date skills in interventional bronchoscopy – including linear and radial EBUS, transbronchial biopsy, and cryobiopsy.
